The OCEMFT History, The organization was established and started on 16th June, 1998 by the Executive Director, Mr. Lihangwike Komba. He organized a meeting for all government and local leaders in the ward, other officials and the local community. The reason behind establishment of this organization was due to increasing number of uneducated children and orphans, more and more. The organization was therefore established as an intervention to tackle this problem of the disadvantaged groups of children. OCEMFT offers opportunity of education to this group of children. 5. Activities of OCEMFT are as follows, a)None profit Making activities b)Provides an awareness to the public on prevention and control of AIDS so as to address orphanage problems. c)Provides excellent education and health services to orphans and vulnerable children. d)Cooperate with other institutions and individuals in attaining the above objectives. 6) Achievements are as follows, a)Ocemft has the Board of Directors with six members i.e. Executive Director, Chairperson, Secretary, Planning Secretary, Treasurer and Editor. The Board by constitution meets every after six months, but now meets more often due to various decisions which need to be made as the organization is still young. b)More than 483 orphans have been enrolled and are all attending classes run by the centre. c)A total of 50 children have been intaken by Vate Consultancy Firm Training Centre, for continuing with their studies. d)Other Sponsors and sponsoring schools have taken a good number of orphans and sent them somewhere to get more education due to their school fees. e)Other sponsors bring cooked food for some days, one has built a latrine and another has promised to pay a salary to one teacher at a rate of Tsh. 100,000/= per month. f)The Board is very creative. We have started a long term planning for the construction of the centre devided in three phases. See the annexed Project Funding Proposal (in US $). g)Our Trustee, by the name of Mr. Emmanuel U. Ng’ui, who works with our local leading Bank, CRDB Bank LTD, senior official, is extremely helpful person. 7.Challenges and key difficulties we are facing, a)Needed funding to purchase an orphanage building capable of accommodating more than 100 kids at once. The building has been found, with 16 rooms each with ceiling fan, with water and electricity, kitchen, bathrooms, etc. It is being sold at Tsh. 100 million b)The already planned commitments lack funding (see Annexture) c)Salaries for teachers and other staff d)Dinning expenses for breakfast and lunch for the kids 8. Our budget. So far we have not received any fund, so to say, from any organization, but we are existing on private small donations from well wishers. However our planned budget to meet all our requirements is about US$ 3 Million as per the annexture. 9. Our operations. Our group is managed by several individuals working on volunteered system on various capacities. The funding is also as explained above comes from various individuals. 10.Our plans for a grant of US$ 1 Thousand. We have various sensitive and immediate requirements direct to the kids, such as desks and seating chairs/benches, exercise books and text books, food for lunch and breakfast.
